This is my school book, it's good enough to teach u how to work with Visual Basic in visual studio, but it's not detailed enough for tests,it's hard to find even the answers of each chapter review questions. It makes me use internet resources as well.

Really Good for Non-Beginner Programmers

Really good book that is easy to follow. I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars. It's not for the absolute beginner programmer since it doesn't get very detailed but it reads like a beginner text with the simplicity of the text and exercises. It also provides a decent basic overvue of the Visual Studio IDE.

If you are looking to learn VB and/or .NET as your next language then this is worth getting but there are other more in-depth beginner books out there that would provide a much better foundation.

I've read two different editions of this book - I borrowed the 6th? 7th? edition (the one with the blue cover that is expanded) and I own the 3rd edition (which is not expanded). Let me tell you, this slim book packs a powerful punch. I've always struggled with being concise in my writing, and this book is THE book to help you maximize your writing. It should be required in high schools everywhere.

Back when I worked for a newspaper, one of my editors was trying to get a review of mine on a particular page, which meant he needed to edit a little bit out ... he came back and told me - I couldn't edit your review. Every word was essential. - YES. Thank you, Strunk & White.

The only writing book my son ever needed

Nearly one hundred years old, this book was originally written by William Strunk, who was E.B White's former professor. E. B. White later wrote the last part of this mini-manual. As you may recall, White was the author of the classic, Stuart Little. To study this book is to learn from the masters. When I was homeschooling my oldest son during his early high school years, this was the only writing book that we used. The only other instruction I gave him was to correct the mistakes on the novels he was writing at the time. When it was time for him to take the SAT test, he received the highest possible score on the writing section, and he hadn't even completed the essay because he ran out of time. If a parent or teacher is knowledgeable enough about writing, this is really the only writing book a student will ever need. Whenever anyone asks me for a recommendation for a writing book, this is the one to which I refer them.

A Good Desk Reference if/when it might be needed...

If you paid attention in (and remember) high school English composition, don't pay more than a buck for this. But I should qualify that I'm a senior citizen with two bright kids who went through school in the late 1980s, and (I dare say) they weren't taught nearly as well as I was back in the '60s and early '70s. So take this review with a grain of salt.

I'm writing this review for the free Kindle version with tan and dark red cover (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005IT0V8O/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0). This Kindle version has clickable linkage, the Table of Contents is simple and well constructed, and the book is loaded with examples, so it's good to have as a reference for those times when one gets stuck on a cumbersome sentence or an overused word or expression, for suggestions on resolving active/passive voice, and so forth. Beyond that, my best advice for anyone who's already well-versed in grammar and composition is this, from the book's Introductory section:

"... once past the essentials, students profit most by individual instructions based on the problems of their own work...".

Sold, to the weak and wealthy coward

This story takes the reader right up to any bondage fantasy ever dreamed, until, the reader becomes the victim and is abducted to a place only reality could want to hide. Human slavery is exposed to the minds eye when eroticism leaves the building condemned. I personally hope for a sequel to remove any guilt I had for enjoying this book. It is well costructed, methodically written and no Hollywood ending. Sure, I teared up with some relief at the end but I will be crying while thinking about the fecal mentality of the slave trader in today's sex trade and pray for a painful, high pitched scream as these low rent cowards are castrated of their power to prey upon any human again.

Not a great book not a bad one.

Basic premise focuses on a white American woman kidnapped and sexually tortured as part of a slave based training regime. A reporter decides to try and find her as part of the story and you can figure how it goes from there. You basic rescue the damsel in distress adventure / mystery, with some kinky sex thrown in. The story line is predictable the characters one dimensional but is a fast read. It is not the best book I have read and not the worst. Not sure I would buy another from this author though.

Bad guys doing bad things and good guys trying to stop them. The women in the story are of course the victims. Much of the story is what is happening to the women while the good guys are working to stop the bad guys. Some parts are a little predictable but there are some twists.

Too many factual errors

European Integration is one of my favorites topics. I do not share the author's euro skepticism but I enjoyed his discussion about different theories of integration. However, I cannot recommend a book with so many factual errors about modern history of my native Spain. I do not know who told Mr. Gillingham that Prime Minister Felipe Gonz�lez was know as Pepe (it is Gonz�lez and not Gonz�les by the way), that the socialist inspired trade union is the Uni�n de Centro Democr�tico (as opposed to the Union General de Trabajadores) that the deputy PM name was Juan Guerra (as opposed to Alfonso Guerra) or that the Bank of Spain intervened BANESTA (as opposed to BANESTO). I recommend a full revision if this book is ever to be translated into Spanish and/or sold in Spain. I can only hope that he got the facts of the rest of the countries right.

I do not know who told Mr Gillingam that Prime Minister Felipe Gonzalez was know as Pepe, who told him that the solialist inspired trade union was the Union de Centro Democratico, that the Deputy Prime minister's name was Juan Guerra or that the Bank of Spain intervend BANESTA just to name a few. I recommend a full revission if this book is ever to be transalted into Spanish and/or sold in Spain. I can only hope he got his facts rights about the rest of the countries.

Mainly for Thatcherites

We need a one-volume history of European Integration, but not this five hundred page panegyric to...Margaret Thatcher? In Gillingham's funhouse, Thatcher is the key figure in European Integration, receiving more attention than any of the individuals who actually tried to integrate Europe, most of whom are dismissed, often in very personal terms. European integration indeed disappears from the book sometimes for sixty pages at a time while the author reviews political developments of right-wing governments in...New Zealand? A very distorted understanding of European integration.
