A FRENCH FEMINIST INTERPRETS LACAN'S PSYCHOANALYSIS

At the time this book was published in 1982, Jane Gallop was professor of French at Miami University; she has also written Intersections: A Reading of Sade with Bataille, Blanchot, and Klossowski.

She wrote in the Introduction, "[the book] studies the relation between contemporary feminist theory and the psychoanalysis of Jacques Lacan... it enters into a network of problems: problems of sexual difference, of desire, of reading, or writing, of power, of family, of phallocentrism and of language... this book is ... a contribution to the sort of thinking it describes---that is, a contribution to French psychoanalytic feminist thought from the vantage point of these English-speaking shores." (Pg. xi) She adds, "The book begins by calling into question certain feminist assumptions through the agency of Lacanian psychoanalysis. For the undergrad college student and interested researcher

This book is designed to be the standard undergraduate text for a traditional course in engineering. A one semester course would likely use chapters 1-5. For classes with an emphasis on aerospace engineering, aerodynamics is covered in Chapter six.

This book, more than most, includes a lot of commentary on real world situations that both keep interest level up and which indicate some of the types of applications which the student may find himself studying in post-college life. This includes some quite interesting commentary on fluid flow in biological systems including the human lung and wings of insects and birds, studies on the air flow around large trucks, and numerous photos and comments on strangely shaped aircraft studied by NASA and others.

At this time the photo of the book cover on the Amazon description is not correct. Perhaps they used a photo of an earlier edition. Also the publication date of the current edition is given by the publisher as 2011.

Blessing to North India

In 1998 a friend sent our team the Walking in Victory book for our own personal use. We had been praying for some time for some simple Bible teaching material that would cover the basics for new believers. We are working directly with many Churches in North India helping them with discipleship. God immediately showed us that we were to have this book translated into the Hindi language. After receiving permission from NRM we had the book translated and printed. In less than three months we distributed 1000 books to Church leaders and hungry disciples of Christ. The testimonies are overwhelming of how God has been using this book to help new and old believers gain greater understanding of who they are in Christ. The Hindi version is now in 4 different countries and in more than 8 different states in India. God is using this material to establish His people on the foundation of Jesus Christ. We are grateful to NRM for this wonderful teaching material that helps people study the Word of God. Praise the Lord for God's gift to India, where there is still very little teaching material in their language. At least what is now available is annointed teaching. Pray that a ministry in India will be able to support the continued printing and distribution of this book.
