Real Italian cooking

After purchasing the book what struck me most was the history of the dishes going back to the roots to simple real Italian food .
The food that I grew up with
, Looking through the pages was like remembering my child hood my mother baking biscuits or making pasta .

A family keepsake

I was born and raised in Canada by Calabrese parents who immigrated from Italy in the 70s. They raised me the way they were raised. This is why this book is so special to me. In a world where borders are being erased, you become accustomed to new cultures and often take on new customs.
This book immortalizes our traditions. It is an absolute gem. Not only will you find our key recipes, but also a very interesting recap of our history.
It is clear to see that the author went through great lengths to gather all this information into one place. It is also easy to see that this book is not written for commercial purposes like most: the layout isn't perfect, the pictures are not taken by a professional photographer, nor are the subjects actors or models, but the content is genuine. This precious book should not be read as a mere recipe book, but rather, as a homegrown family book of our customs.
It is charming, it is real, it is comforting and I will pass it along to my daughter when she will be grown, so that our traditions live on.
